Tsoureki is a sweet yeast bread that, like many yeast breads, requires two rising. This Easter Tsouréki is flavored with traditional mahlepi and mastica and sprinkled with sliced almonds. Tsouréki is made in specific shapes at Easter, Christmas and New Year’s. Traditional Easter tsouréki is twisted or braided, baked with a red hardboiled egg (colored using non-toxic onion skins).
