Paximádia are twice baked dipping cookies. Not too sweet, they are delicately flavored with fresh ground anise seed, sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked twice for the perfect crunchiness. baklava-01-300x200Baklavá is a traditional Greek dessert made by layering lightly buttered phyllo pastry sheets, alternating with layers of cinnamon-spiced walnut filling. We hand score our baklavá trays before baking to a crisp golden brown. The baklavá is topped off with a simple, honey syrup that is infused with juice from our homegrown Meyer lemons, and spiced with cinnamon and clove. Baklavá keeps for many months and may be frozen to be enjoyed at a later time. Serve it alone or with a side of vanilla ice cream.

nyeNew Year’s Vasilópita (which means “bread of Saint Basil”) is a round bread that has the new year’s numbers on its surface made of dough and contains a hidden coin. The bread is cut on New Year’s Eve at midnight or on New Year’s Day and the recipient of the piece which contains the hidden coin will have good luck and blessings for the New Year. This sweet yeast bread is flavored with mahlepi and mastica and delicious toasted with butter.

This Easter Tsouréki is flavored with traditional mahlepi and mastica and sprinkled with sliced almonds. Tsouréki is made in specific shapes at Easter, Christmas and New Year’s. Traditional Easter tsouréki is twisted or braided, baked with a red hardboiled egg (colored using non-toxic onion skins).
